Vitamin injections
Vitamin injections deliver nutrients directly into the bloodstream, bypassing the digestive system for rapid absorption. Common injections include Vitamin B12 for energy and mood, Vitamin D for bone health and immunity, and Vitamin C for antioxidants and immune support. they’re beneficial for those with absorption issues. Risks include allergic reactions and infection. They’re not a replacement for a balanced diet and should be used under medical supervision.
B12 Vitamin injections
Vitamin B12 deficiency is usually treated with injections of vitamin B12, called hydroxocobalamin. At first, you’ll have these injections every other day for 2 weeks or until your symptoms have started improving.
Vitamin B12 is essential for healthy blood. When the body does not have enough B12, it leads to decreased normal red blood cell production (anemia), which impairs oxygen delivery.
Vitamin B12 is crucial to various bodily processes:
Normal functioning of the brain and nervous system
Cognitive functioning (ability to think)
Helps create and regulate DNA
Possibly preventing congenital abnormalities
Formation of red blood cells and anaemia prevention
Necessary for energy production
Helps protect the eyes from macular degeneration
How quickly do you feel better after B12 injections?
Hydroxocobalamin starts to work straight away. However, it may take a few days or weeks before your vitamin B12 levels and symptoms (such as extreme tiredness or lack of energy) start to improve. Are there any long-term side effects? It’s OK to have hydroxocobalamin injections for a long time.
Does B12 give you energy?
While B12 doesn’t directly provide energy, it gives the body the tools to convert food molecules into energy. Getting the recommended daily amount of B12 can, therefore, help ensure that the body can make the energy it needs to do everything you need.
Vitamin D injections
Vitamin D injections can help regulate the amount of calcium and phosphate in the body. These nutrients are needed to keep bones, teeth and muscles healthy.
