Taxi and HGV Medicals are a legal requirement for drivers of commercial vehicles. At RevitaMed, we can ensure you meet the necessary health and safety requirements to operate these vehicles through a thorough yet efficient medical examination. We aim to make the process as stress-free as possible.
Medical Appointment
During a 30-minute appointment with an experienced GP, an examination specific to the type of medical required will be performed, and relevant forms will be completed. Examinations that require an eye test will take an extra 15 minutes and are subject to an extra charge. If you have already had an eye test at your opticians, please bring a copy of this report.
Frequently Asked Questions
How will you know my medical history?
We will take a full history during the course of the Medical. However, we will only have basic access to your NHS medical records. If you have current medical problems, it can help to speed the process up if you have either access to the NHS app or a summary copy of your medical records.
What do I need to bring?
You will need to bring the DVLA form, Photo ID, Driving glasses/contact lenses and prescription from the optician, list of prescription medications
What will happen if I fail the medical?
This would mean you are unfit to drive a commercial vehicle until pronounced ‘Fit’. If this is something simple, such as a raised blood pressure reading, we will work with you to treat this or provide you with a machine to take some home readings. Often, people’s blood pressure will become raised in a medical examination environment. If you fail the eye test, we will arrange for an experienced optician to examine you and advise you on the appropriate course of action.
