As a female GP of a certain age, I am regularly asked by friends, family, and patients, “What is the best HRT to go on?” So, let’s try to simplify the types of HRT out there and why a ‘one size fits all’ approach just doesn’t work for most women.
As I said in my last blog, I found myself plunged into menopause 9 years ago, aged 38, through the treatment of my breast cancer. Without the option of HRT, I was on the look out for anything that may help relieve those symptoms!
It is hardly surprising that with the list of symptoms menopause can cause it is filling people with a sense of dread! There are lots of unscrupulous clinics out there praying on our anxieties and currently offering HRT way above recommended levels that we do not have safety data for.
